Haviv Rettig Gur
Director of Communications, Jewish Agency for Israel
Haviv Gur was the Jewish world correspondent for the Jerusalem Post for five years, reporting from dozens of Jewish communities around the world. In that time, he became the newspaper’s primary commentator on Jewish issues, especially on what he sees as the growing divide between American Jewish and Israeli identity. Last year at age 29, he became director of communications for the Jewish Agency for Israel under the leadership of Chairman Natan Sharansky, and was tasked with the public relations for the sweeping reforms Sharansky was leading in the 82-year-old organization. Haviv teaches at the pre-military academy in Tel Aviv, is a member of the Conversion Forum of Israel’s Institute for Jewish Studies and is head of government relations for SpaceIL, the Israeli team competing in the Google Lunar X-Prize contest to be the first to land a civilian spacecraft on the moon.
